A couple of weeks ago I did this awesome manicure for a team building day with my work colleagues. It was a day full of great fun, one task of the day being creating a 3 minutes long film explaining what it is we do in our department. 3 hours! That was how long we had to shoot, edit and finish up the movie. Loads of fun, but a bit stressy too, I must admit.
When looking back on the past year it is with mixed feelings. The year brought with it a lot of hospital visits for me, my friends and my family. Way too many hospital visits in one year. 2013 can only be better than 2012, so that is what I am counting on! I can feel that this is MY year. I will be handing in my infamous thesis in some weeks, which already makes the start of the year fabulous. I can’t wait to get it out of my life, let alone get ON with my life. That being said, 2012 was also the year that I started this blog and the new hobby (obsession!) with nail polish. It’s a brand new world for me and I’ve only been part of it for a couple of months, but I already feel a big part of it and I have met so many great people with the same crazy hobby as me. 2013 will be good!
December 2012 brought a long with it a lot of gifts from friends and family. Below is what was added to my stash the last month of the year last year.
My better half and I celebrated four years of awesomeness last week. What did I get? Polish! I was over the top when I saw the little shop full of OPI located in the heart of beautiful Copenhagen. I hadn’t been there before even though I know my way around the polish world in Copenhagen.
I have worn this beauty for now 2 days. It’s so fresh! And it’s still perfect even though I have used my hands a lot lately – a big applause to Sephora’s instant dry oil, which apparently also keeps the manicure from chipping. Continue reading →
I haven’t blogged the whole weekend, because of 1) I was having my cousin visiting from afar and 2) because I have been on antibiotics and the smell of nail polish made me want to vomit all over my nails. Haha, sorry for that image! I’m still on the drugs and still not feeling totally well, but I am slowly recovering and getting back on track. Yesterday I even went for a run. But my oh my, how I felt the medicine killing my body! I could only run 4 kms and with the worst time possible. Sigh.
OPI’s Holland collection has really impressed me so far. This is I Don’t Give a Rotterdam! from their collection and so far it is one of my favourite OPIs. I know I say that about a lot of polishes, but believe me, I wear this as often as I can, because it is so goddamn beautiful. I love the blueblue colour it has and the shimmer is just the icing of the cake! Again, a polish that is subtle and not too in-your-face-y, but at the same time it is not TOO subtle 😉
I just simply love it to the bones!
So I tried one of my new polishes that I bought yesterday. This is 18K Ginza Gold from OPI and I am not sure how I feel about this one. It looked awesome in the bottle, but when I put it on I didn’t think it looked good on my skin tone. I really like the colour, but just don’t think it works for me 😦 In the bottle I saw the colour as warm and embracing, but when I put it on it was the complete opposite. It’s somehow really cold, even though it is a “gold” tone. I’ve been wearing it for 2 hours now and I still can’t decide how I feel about it. You judge.
Besides, this is not a summer colour at all. I don’t know what you think when you see the pictures, but for me I’d probably wear this around Fall if I wear it again. Here you see 3 coats and no top coat.
PS: This time I made the collage ALL by myself! Until now Ali Toma has been my superman, but for this one all credit goes to me – it took like 1,5 hour to finish it up, so I’m super proud of myself and my stubbornness!
If you have Photoshop and you want to make a nice collage like this yourself you can see here how it’s done: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wDTMxXwDPbM&feature=fvst
Her ses 3 lag uden top coat.
